The Cat Who Escaped Euthanasia

Brandy belonged to an elderly lady who unfortunately died. He lived with a dog and when she died the daughter did not want the responsibility of the animals and took the dog to the vet for euthanasia. The only reason Brandy escaped was that he was out at the time. He was rescued by neighbours. I was contacted by the RSPCA to see if he could join the Diggle crew. The answer was affirmative and he duly arrived. A beautiful long haired tabby, but he was none too happy. He was used to roaming and although he spent a week inside before he was allowed to go in the gardens, he did a runner. The local community was informed and it was a few months latter he appeared at the local corn merchants. He was very thin and they fed and wormed him. I was informed and went to collect him. This time he was very glad to be back! For several days he ate and slept and spent his time on a cushion by the radiator. When he recovered he did get out of the garden but always remained nearby.

The Old Roamer Now At Rest

Unfortunately, Brandy developed a heart complaint and was under veterinary supervision. I had him for about two years before he succumbed to his complaint. I was devastated and he will be sadly missed. I informed the RSPCA and they informed the neighbours and they confirmed that he must have been at least seventeen which wasn't a bad age for a cat.
