George is the only sheep I have bought. When I had Bonnie (1) and Clyde, I always fancied a black sheep. The local farmer had some black lambs so off I went to see if I could buy one. Twenty-five pounds our George cost. He was duly delivered and he settled in. I was quite pleased that I now had a black sheep. Forgive the pun but you shouldn't count your chickens. The first year I had him he couldn't be sheared. They do not shear yearlings. The following year our George was sheared and just my luck, he changed colour. Would you believe it?!
He now looks like any other sheep on the patch. That was it I wasn't going to get another! George must now be well in his teens and he is doing very nicely, however, he aint black!!!!!
