Sonny Jim came from an area in Manchester. My mother and I had a dressmaker, Marjorie who was very fond of cats. She had one of her own and she constantly fed the stray cats in her neighbourhood one of which was Sonny Jim. Sonny Jim had other ideas as well as being fed. He was keen to take up residence. Marjorie would not allow this as he upset her cat. Consequently, on a visit to have a skirt fitted, Marjorie asked if I could take him to Diggle. So a Diggler he became. Unfortunately, Marjorie has now died and up to her death she paid all his vet bills and helped towards the cost of his food that was rather nice and a big help. Sonny Jim is still with me and is going strong. He must be now well in his teens.
