The Digglers

The Cat Who Was Unable To Stand

The Digglers' Cat ~ Burfy

What can I say regarding my beautiful Burfy. She was only with me for a few short months but those few short months were a privilege.

I was contacted by the RSPCA, a cat suffering from road traffic accident had been taken to a local vet. The cat was a female and she was unable to stand. The vet however, was convinced that she would regain some movement and was reluctant to put her to sleep. It was obvious that she couldn't be re homed and I was asked to foster her. So I went to pick her up. Burfy as I called her was given the spare bedroom which was in fact converted into an office and she enjoyed being a secrecat! She loved the duvet by the radiator and made herself at home!

The Koala Bear

I didn't let her come into contact with my other cats as although she regained some movement and could walk, she was quite unsteady. She did come downstairs when the cats were in another room. She loved me working in the office and would clamber onto my knee and then cling on like a koala bear! I often could be seen walking around with Burfy clinging on!

A Short But Treasured Time

Alas, Burfy's health began to deteriorate and eventually she went blind. Her quality of life remained good along with mine due to the presence of Burfy. Sadly she suffered from a heart attack and died in my arms. A bit of me died with her. So short yet so beautiful. It reminded me of a book I had read – A Snowflake in my hands. Thanks, Burfy. We will meet again someday
